Trail Heads:
North Bank Park, Battelle Park, Bicentennial park, Whittier Peninsula, Greelawn Avenue Dam, Berliner Park. It is the earliest trail built in Columbus along a Greenway. It serves commuters and recreational needs into the downtown area. Portions of this trail are on sidewalks along the Avenue of Flags on Civic Center Drive and through Bicentennial Park. Then on paved trail from Main St. along river through Lower Scioto Park to Front St; then on Front St. to Greenlawn Ave. Go west over the bridge. Paved trail then runs south from Greenlawn Ave.,on west side of river, to turn-around at south end of Berliner Park (no access to SR104).

Part of the Greenway Trail System.
This trail provides the user with various scenic views of the downtown river, downtown skyline, parks and natural areas. The lower Scioto dam and marina area provide excellent bird watching. Berliner trail is through wooded natural areas providing glimpses of the river and park. Stop on the west side of the river at the Greenlawn dam area for a dramatic vista of the dam and to perhaps see a great blue heron or other water birds that frequent this area. Benches are provided for a rest break. |
